Happy New Year

As it is now far too late for me to be taken seriously by the palaeo community at large, I may as well indulge as much as I can.

I had hoped to have completed this on New Year's Day, but as usual, it took longer than I expected.  I had also hoped to do more with the background, but this will have to do.  Real work beckons, I fear!

I think it looked better as just the ink drawing.  Bother.

Happy New Year!

  1. Who needs serious when you have such wonderful imagery? Fantastic!

btw: first thought was that you'd made a series of Scott Hartman's break-dancing pose. (http://skeletaldrawing.blogspot.com/2011/07/skeletal-poses-do-they-matter.html)

Haha, the Stegosaurus must look like that especially.

  7. @Flodo: Wouldn't a frieze like that be great?

  8. For some reason the stegosaur balancing on one foot looks even more comically absurd than the sauropod.

Amazing work as usual and, once again, it was a real pleasure seeing you again yesterday.

  10. Thank you on all counts, Marc. :)

I agree, the Stegosaurus is my favourite here. Stegosaurs are already such dramatic shapes in themselves (and Stegosaurus in particular with that sudden steep rise in its back, even without accounting for the plates), it was fun heightening the absurdity and making it look as though it was in danger of tipping right over...

    1. Thank you so much, Matt!

Oh, look at this! Finally, blogger has provided a better commenting system in which one could directly reply to a comment instead of one long list with no head or tail. Hooray!

(I can be very easily pleased sometimes...)

  12. I just stumbled upon your blog today and it is amazing! These three remind me of horses that have just been turned out on spring pasture.

    1. Sorry for my very delayed reply, but thank you! I surmise that you must have been led here via the wonderful Love in the Time of Chasmosaurs?

  13. This (and all of your other dinos) is amazing. I stumbled on you somehow on deviantArt and had to check out the dinosaurs with my son, who is obsessed. Is there any chance of this being offered as a print/poster?
